It really depends on what you are eating when you eat out. I own a service that delivers food. You can eat out and still eat very healthy. But you do need to be a little picky about it. Believe me...you can eat just as unhealthy at home by cooking things yourself! But you are right about portion control....most restaurants give you WAY TO MUCH. I tend to order the Kids meals on a lot of menus just for the fact that they give you right about the right amount...around 400-600 cals. Also...if there is a delivery service where you live...that time that you would have spent cooking....you can spend doing something really fun with the kids...my fav...piggy rides for my 2 year old!

When I started doing art shows I had to travel out of town most weekends, that meant cheap hotels and eating at fast food places and diners. I would come home on Mondays feeling horrible from all the salt, msg and grease I had consumed for 2 to 4 days!

I went out and bought an RV and took my home with me! Better bed and healthier, cheaper food that I could enjoy in a comfortable sitting!

And it was deductible, as were the hotel and restaurant bills, BUT I also got better tax breaks on depreciation and I had something to sell at the end of all the money I'd spent!

But, I bought it for better eating habits (and so I could take my little puppy with me on the road)!
