Adult Halloween Party Ideas
Children love Halloween, dressing up, getting candy and having fun, but adults enjoy it as well. There are many ways to make the party more fun for the grown ups.
Theme parties are always fun. You can make a contest out of it – such as most creative or most authentic. You can also make a competition to see who can guess the most costume identities (i.e. Charlie is dressed as Daniel Boone).
Here are a few suggestions for themes:
• Historic Figures – one theme could be dressing as a favorite person from history. There are quite a few colorful characters since the beginning of time, and can be educational as well.
• Famous Characters – another theme idea is to dress like favorite novel, television or movie characters. This allows for a wide variety of costumes and leaves plenty of room for creativity. You could have Robin Hood dining with a Jedi.
• Romance Through the Ages – everyone loves a good love story, so have couples dress together as their favorite couples, real or fictional.
• The Funnies – have everyone dress as their favorite cartoon or comic strip character.
If you are having a smaller group attend the party, you could have a mystery party. There are several variations available that come pre-planned; all you have to do is send the invitations and your guests help provide the evening’s entertainment. Each person comes in character, following the directions in their invitation. Each person holds key information to solving the mystery.
A simpler version of the mystery party is a mixer game of “Famous Pairs”; however you have one “person” killed. Make a list of famous couples, real or fictitious, and make signs to tape on the back of the guests. One of the famous pairs has been “killed”. People have to go around and ask yes or no questions to first find out who they are (as their identity is taped on their back) and then they have to find their partner. However one person will not have a partner. You can give prizes for different things, such as the first person to figure out who they are, who their partner is and who’s the “victim”.
Food is an important part of any party. The type of party will determine what foods will fit best. If you want people up and mingling, have mostly finger foods. If you want a more formal occasion, have a sit down meal. Either way, you can be creative with the food by adding food coloring, or other silly things to make the food less appetizing and more Halloween-ish.
